Lamborghini retains the 12-cylinder, this totally new engine of 235kg develops 6.5L and 690 Nm coupled to a gearbox with double clutch 7 reports called SRI (Independent Shifting Rod) allowing, thanks to the double
linkage used a gear change 50% faster!
Moreover, Lamborghini chose among others, for a while carbon fiber bodywork, ceramic brakes enable the Aventador to win 200kg compared to the Murcielago.

Lamborghini project, new teaser and statements.

September 14, 2010

Lamborghini just broadcast a new shot of the future model of the brand. The next Murcielago ? Maybe. or why not the reedition of the Miura ... dream idea, isn't it ?

According to this photo, it would seem the next car of Lamborghini will be equiped by a 10 cylinders engine, by the number of holes present on the carbon hood... let the beast breath ! Probably the engine from the Audi RS6's twin-turbo.

The chairman of Lamborghini, Stefan Winkelmann, declares in next years, the brand won't more focus to the top speed but to improve the acceleration and handling.

You can read below his speech to the press.

“Lamborghini stands for extreme and uncompromising supersportscars of the best Italian tradition. Tradition as a value however, lives at Lamborghini alongside innovation.
We are redefining the future of our supersportscars around the two main reasons to buy: design and performance. Design has been and always will be reason number one, and we will make sure a Lamborghini will always be recognizable through its significant stylistic features.
Regarding performance, until few years ago priorities were, in this order: top speed, acceleration and handling. In recent years this has been changing. Together with design, handling and acceleration are becoming more important. Speed is not as important anymore, because all supersportscars are exceeding 300km/h (186 mph) and this is a speed that you cannot reach even on a racetrack, let alone normal roads. We think it is time to make a shift and talk more about handling and acceleration.
The key factor in terms of better handling and acceleration, meaning more immediate pleasure in driving, is the power-to-weight ratio. This is not so much about top speed and so the future will not be so focused on increasing the power, even because CO2 emissions do play a role for supersportscars too. That means the key is in reducing the weight.
A crucial part of this is to understand how to reduce the weight. From the middle of the Eighties, the average weight of our cars has increased by 500 kg because of active and passive safety, comfort and emissions reduction issues, and this is something that we have to change. Since we cannot reduce safety or comfort in our cars, we have to reduce the weight by using new materials.

The magic word for this is “carbon fiber”. We started working with carbon fiber in Sant’Agata Bolognese over thirty years ago and today, with our two laboratories in Sant’Agata Bolognese and in Seattle, We are mastering a broad range of technologies which put us in a leadership position for low-volume production.

Every new Lamborghini will make the best use of carbon fiber to reduce weight.”

An engine with a body !

Originally, the SuperVeloce is already a supercharged version of the LP670. However, the American preparer Underground Racing has held that the beast of Lamborghini was not enough beastly. To do this, Underground Racing has fattened the 6.5L V12 from the LP670SV by adding to it a twin turbo. Needless to say the bull is transfigured.
Although it is easy to think that the car exceeds blithely 1000hp, no data is advanced by the preparer. Only a video get to enjoy us of the technical optimization, and of the rumbling, howling, roar of the engine.

Lamborghini projects: the vintage reborn !

July 22, 2010

While the Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni Spyder completes its development on the Nordschleife, and the supercharged Jota is about to burn the bitumen in the coming months, we learn that Lamborghini is preparing 2 new products in the years come.

The first rumor concerns the launching of a "small" Lamborghini V8 engine 4.2l and 450hp that would take the estate of the sublime and fluid Urraco 70s. It is not known if this Lamborghini will be 2 or 4 seats but the project is under development. A project that seems logical enough.

The second news is more surprises! Brand, owned by VW, might use the platform of the Porsche Cayenne in the years ahead in order to awaken the LM 002, Hummer competitor of his era. It is powered by a German V8 or a V10 revised by the Italians. Do not agitate us, already wait the Jota and the Gallardo LP 550-2 Spyder. On the other hand, we have no news concerning the 4 doors / 4 seats lamborghini Estoque... to be continued !

10,000, the day number for Lamborghini.

June 25, 2010

The plant of Sant'Agata has rolled off the production line the 10,000th bull called Gallardo. As the 4,000th Murcielago, the yellow Midas Gallardo is destined to a chinese client.

This model, launched in 2003 has known a gradually big success throughout the world, like its Spyder and Superleggera versions, and afterwards the LP 560-4 and LP570-4 models with increased power and updated styling.

To Stephan Winkelmann, the Lamborghini boss, "The Lamborghini brand is extreme, uncompromising and Italian, and the Lamborghini Gallardo has played an exemplary role in defining and delivering our brand reputation into our worldwide markets. Today Lamborghini is represented in 45 countries by over 120 dealers, with the strength and presence of the Gallardo product playing a significant role in the growth and recognition of our brand."

Lamborghini, $350,000 went up in smoke !

June 21, 2010

Previously evoked few weeks ago, problems of the Murcielago were realized in New York, Brooklyn borough. The recall campaign concerned a default about the fuel tank which can involve a fire. Today, it's done ! Although the facts are not precisely known, it is strongly likely that it was an immediate consequence of this fuel tank problem.

We say this car was stolen before the fire start by two men, but no more information on this fact for this moment.

Lamborghini Recalls bulls !

May 24, 2010

Today, each technical problems being so publicized, automakers are forced to respond by conducting recall campaigns, and Lamborghini is no exception to the rule. Indeed, 428 Murcielago were called back on the American continent, for cars produced between 2007 and 2008. The causes of back in the assembly shop seems nevertheless important because it concerns the fuel tank. It would present a weakness that can be finished in leakage ... we understand why the owners of these cars can be worried. Especially since there are precedents, we remember a few vehicles that have experienced an engine fire without apparent reasons (but no link can be said).

However it should not undermine the Engineering and the overall quality of these cars.
