This is the new record entered to the Guinness Book of Records by the Sunday Times journalist driving a Volkswagen Passat TDI BlueMotion.
Thus, we learn that the driver of the Passat 1.6 TDi L 105 only consumed 3.14 L/100 km (75 mpg) to average speed of 45mph on a realistic distance that has led the journalist from the Kent to the south of France and back to Great Britain. To recap, the fuel tank of the Passat BlueMotion TDI contains 77.25 L of diesel.
This Passat was the same model to a classical Passat model, so, 1.6 L TDI engine from 105 hp, 250 Nm with Start / Stop system, elongated gearbox ratio, lowered suspension and low resistance tires. Still a nice record for Volkswagen in terms of autonomy and efficiency. In terms of performance, the Passat TDi 105 BlueMotion is scheduled for a Vmax of 120mph and a 0 to 60mph in 12.5 seconds.
A beautiful record that VW will not fail to emphasize in the coming months at the launch of the restyled Passat which has the same configuration.
