Smart ForTwo Electric in October for the USA and Canada.

Smart expands marketing of its ForTwo ED on North American lands. Already present in Europe since the end of 2009, Smart plans to increase production, and go up from 1,000 to 1,500 units produced. It will be available from October 2010 in the USA and Canada, and by 2012 about forty markets throughout the world. The spokesperson for Smart declares: "The demand is very strong in these markets, and in 2012 for its third generation, the car will be produced in greater numbers then incorporated into the regular range of smart through its dealers".
For now, no rental price was announced. The Smart electric power develops 30kw and 120 Nm with a range of 70 miles and 60mph in top speed.
