Tesla Motors has announced the signing of a partnership with Japanese giant Toyota. This agreement will allow both companies to make common cause for the production of electric cars, and this will also allow Tesla to establish itself as one of leaders in electrical automotive manufacturers of broad dissemination. To do this, they will be installed in the NUMMI factory in California, former GM plant, bought by Toyota.
The first model will be the Tesla Model S, with production estimated at 20,000 copies a year. This should allow Tesla to gradually increase his power.
As a reminder, the Tesla Model S is able to travel more than 300 miles, can be recharged using a fast setting in 45 minutes and reaches 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds. The base price is announced at $ 49.900, and will be on the road in 2012, but you can make your reservation today.
A surprising point remains yet to verify; Tesla announces that it can accommodate seven people (5 adults and 2 children) in a cozy comfort! Given the very successful design of the car, children (young age) would be in the trunk and the luggage outside !?
Tesla and Toyota, on the same wavelength.
